Relief I - Printmaking

Studio, workshop. The creative print-making process of cutting and printing the raised surfaces of a block. Cutting and printing from various materials including wood, lucite, plaster, masonite, box wood and linoleum. Collograph included. Self-motivated workshop situation. Visual ideas and executions (design and drawings) stressed. Final portfolio required, attendance mandatory. Prerequisite: basic drawing and design, or consent of instructor. $35 materials fee.

This course will provide an overview of issues that are critical to the economic well-being of individuals and families around the world. Their impact on the U.S. economy will be examined. The bulk of the class, however, will be devoted to public programs that affect the economic well-being of families in the United States. Market structure models with application to various industries. Firm behavioral strategies under different market structures. The role of product differentiation, advertising, market power, mergers, barriers to entry, price and non-price rivalry. Market performance including prices, costs, profits, labor issues, and progressiveness. BS-ResEc majors can satisfy their Integrative Experience requirement by taking this course plus Res-Econ 394LI and 453.

Computng:Foundtns to Frontiers

Provides introductory training and a fluency in the discipline, to help the student to apply IT to her or his own major or career. Course develops understanding of contemporary computing tools, IT concepts, and higher-order skills like those needed to perform needs assessment and systems analysis and troubleshooting. It also introduces emerging technologies and the needs they fill, and seeks to develop a context for understanding the role of IT in society, and its relevance in a student's life.
