Archaeology of ancient Greece in Minoan-Mycenaean, Geometric, Archaic, and Classical Periods. Methods, progress, and ethics of archaeological research. Emphasis on remains displaying the architectural and urbanistic development of major cities and sanctuaries, and on their contribution to western civilization. (Gen.Ed. AT)

Various voices of ancient Greek literature in translation, including selections from the poetry of Homer, Hesiod, lyric poets, tragedians, and comedians; from the histories of Herodotus, and Thucydides; and from the works of Plato, among others. Their meaning and wisdom for later generations. (Gen.Ed. AL)

Study of the art, history, and literature of the golden age of Greek Civilization. Historical periods studied include the Persian invasions and Persian culture, the Age of Pericles, the rise of Macedonia and the world domination of Alexander the Great.
