This seminar is intended for members of the Chancellor's Scholars Program. This is the third semester of student participation in this seminar. Students will attend 3 mandatory events during the semester, but the remainder of the class meetings will be based on independent study. In addition, students will have the responsibility of mentoring a first-year student taking Honors 191CS. The final requirement will be a 15 page paper in which students write about specific research topics relevant to their intended scholarship applications.

In this seminar, students will examine texts and works of art that have profoundly shaped the world we live in. The course is divided into four units: Models of Inquiry; the Impact of Science and Technology; Social Philosophy and Civic Engagement; and Art in the World. The course is supplemented with several plenary lectures by distinguished honors faculty speakers.
