Back/Future:History/Prophecy

This class looks at several attempts to forecast the future based on the projection of past trends and patterns. It discusses why some prophets of the past proved reliable, others misguided, and still others a little bit of both. The second half of the course will focus on current public policy debates about race, ethnicity, and America's role as a world power.
