Curriculum Development

This course offers a foundational introduction to theory, research, and practice of curriculum development. We will examine competing theories of curriculum; current and historical curricular debates; recognized best practices in curriculum design; and the relationships among curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and social justice.

S-Intergroup Relation Dialogue

Exploring issues of difference is needed to foster understanding across social divides in a diverse society. Through intergroup dialogue, participants actively learn from each others' perspectives and identify ways to engage in inclusive actions. This class addresses the dynamics of racism in specific institutional and social contexts.

S-Intro Early Child Educ

This course helps prospective early childhood teachers explore what it means to teach, and examines their assumptions about the teaching-learning process, and helps them formulate their own beliefs about educational practice based on how young children think and learn.

S-Leadership/Diverse Comm

The purpose of the course is to provide students general background information and understanding with working with diverse communities. Students will learn research and practice in this area of work as they learn how to be a change agent for the community. They will read about various leadership and administrative styles to lead in a diverse community.
