This course examines language as an instinct and as a social construct that dynamically shapes and is shaped by history, class, status, ethnicity, gender, and institutions like the media and the law. This course is the second part of the intermediate Korean, which is designed for students who have taken Intermediate Korean I or proven to be at the equivalent proficiency. This course aims at the acquisition of Korean language skills to speak, listen, read and write at the intermediate level. Students will make a paragraph level discourse, narratives and reports. In addition to the classroom instruction, there will be an hour of conversation session with the tutors, which students have to attend every week to practice speaking.

Exploration of the types of writing associated with the discipline of communication. Development and improvement of the student's writing, research, and critical thinking skills. Fulfills Junior Year Writing requirement.

General approach to and quantitative methods of exposure assessment; issues associated with interpretation of exposure information; statistical considerations, validation, and ethics; quantitative exposure modeling; concepts of biomarkers and biomonitoring.

This course will provide students with a foundation in counseling skills. We will focus on counseling children in schools and on integrating theory and practice. Classes will consist of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, role plays, small-group activities, and skill practice in large and small groups. Students will also record themselves using counseling skills and self-evaluate these clips.
