In the digital era, technology is everywhere, smart devices are talking to one another, virtual reality can transport students across the world, social media is spreading information (fake and real) at a rapid pace, YouTube is the go-to tool for informal learning, and anyone, anywhere can create or remix multimedia. This project-based course focuses on how technology provides new affordances for, and ways of thinking about, teaching and learning. In this course, you will examine how technology mediates and influences teaching and learning in and across formal and informal contexts.

S-Sem/Diversity & Peer Educ

This course is designed to provide a basic introduction to leadership by focusing on what it means to be a good leader. Emphasis in the course is on the practice of leadership. The course will examine topics such as: understanding leadership; recognizing leadership traits; engaging people?s strengths; understanding philosophy and styles; attending to tasks and relationships; developing leadership skills; establishing a constructive climate; listening to out?group members; educating peers; handling conflict; addressing and overcoming obstacles.

Intro to Educational Statistcs

This course provides an introduction to statistical reasoning with a focus on educational contexts. You will learn how to reason from uncertain empirical data (as is often the case when dealing with school/classroom data) and how to apply this general and fundamental intellectual method in the social sciences. You will also learn how to use a variety of tools (SPSS, Excel, and TI-83 Plus) to perform data analysis on personal computers and to interpret and write results sections based on the analyses. (Gen. International Education

This course is designed to introduce students to the role of culture in education. After exploring the theoretical basis of culture, and its relationship to education, students will be exposed to a range of cultural perspectives from Africa, Asia and Latin America. (Gen.Ed. SB, DG)
