Independent Study
In this class, students will acquire hands-on and/or applied experience in diverse aspects of the research process in any field of Chemistry under the direction and supervision of a faculty advisor. Typically, these projects are related to the research program of the advisor. Student experiences often include: familiarizing themselves with a research topic, generating interesting questions, designing experiments, acquiring technical and instrumentation skills, collecting and analyzing data, writing and/or presenting their results.
Lighting Design
Studio. Study of "seeing": concentration on the articulation of visual pictures developed from a dramatic text and on research; functions and qualities of light and the development of lighting concepts. Practical application of design through specific crew assignments on Department productions.
Business in Italy
This course is made up of on-campus seminars and a study abroad experience in Italy. Studying and traveling in Italy will provide you with a rare opportunity for a first-hand study of a unique economic power that is known for combining business with a deep sense of aesthetics, quality, and culture. The course is designed to be a highly interactive study of Italian culture and business, with the expectation that it will help us all appreciate the dynamics of business in Italy from a globalization, expansion challenge, Made-In-Italy brand, ownership structures, and people management perspective.
S- Talking Animals
There is a strong likelihood that most writers? love of literature began with a talking animal of one sort or another and endowing an animal with human consciousness may be one of the oldest of literary gambits. This seminar will examine the form and theory of fiction through the lens of stories and novels whose main characters are something other than human. Among other questions we shall seek to answer: What may it mean to cast as one?s central character a non-human being in different times and cultures and contexts, and what effects do such narratives produce?
Intro Electrical & Comp Engin
Students select one of the four introductory engineering courses (ENGIN 110, 111, 112, or 113). Within a small class, student teams explore real engineering designs. This introduction to engineering design and/or manufacturing emphasizes development of communication skills (written, oral, and graphical). Project required.
Corequisites: Simultaneous enrollment in MATH 131, or higher; enrollment in, or eligibility to enroll in ENGLWRIT 112.

This course investigates major contemporary educational issues that affect the lives of teachers and students in today's classrooms. It explores the complex web of issues that children, families, and educators face in our diverse society. (Gen Ed SB)
