Dialects For Actors

In this course, students will gain the skills of dialect acquisition in order to meet specific dialect needs for theatre, film, and television productions. Through physical exploration and detailed study of the International Phonetic Alphabet, analysis of signature sounds and prosody, students will gain valuable insight into the process of taking on another person?s oral posture. Cultural research, listening, play, and character work are other elements of dialect work that will help students develop proficiency in several regional American and foreign language dialects.

Soil Ecology

Biological processes found in the soil are essential to life on Earth. This course will introduce students to soils as their own ecosystem. Throughout the course, we will weave together descriptions of the diversity of life found within soils, plant-soil interactions and biogeography to paint a mosaic of soil life, its complexity and global importance. The final portion of the course will address the global challenges facing soil ecosystems and the intersection between those global challenges and soil health.

Small Farm Husbandry-Pigs&Poul

This course is a farmer's perspective on the management, production and marketing of poultry and pigs on a small farm. This course will address the advantages of having pigs and poultry and will review basic care, processing options, regulations and marketing. The course will be structured around lectures, farm visits, guest lectures and acquiring hands on skills. At the end of this course, students will be able to incorporate pigs and poultry as an integral part of their small farm plan.

In this course, you will explore a variety of digital tools and apps that can enhance teaching and learning. You will discover how to find digital tools and apps by cultivating a digitally enhanced professional learning network. You will learn how to critically evaluate digital tools and apps in order to make informed decisions about which tools to use in educational settings, and you will learn how to design innovative, inclusive, and accessible learning experiences with digital tools and apps.
