Theory & Connections to Praxis

In this course, students will connect theory with philosophy, developing critical analytical tools necessary to evaluate nursing theory/ies and theory for nursing, situating theories in their sociopolitical, cultural, historical, and philosophical context. Concurrently, students will begin to develop central concepts for their scholarly progression.

Deductive Reasoning

This course focuses on intermediate quantitative data analytic techniques to encompass approaches for future nurse scientists, characterization, management, analysis, visualization, integration, and use of large, heterogeneous data.

WtrOil&Blood:MdEast/GlblPol

This course is a basic, interdisciplinary introduction to the contemporary Middle East, and uses three substances central to contemporary society as organizing metaphors for issues that help define the region that stretches from Morocco to Iran. We consider a wide range of topics including the modern legacy of Western colonialism in the region, the impact of oil, the roles of religion, gender politics, Arab-Israeli conflicts, and US policies towards the region. Satisfies the modern 100-level requirement for the Middle Eastern Studies major. (Gen. Ed. SB, DG)

Foundations of DEI in Business

The purpose of this course is to provide the essential diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) knowledge and language for business professionals and organizations. We will explore definitions, frameworks, and the most current issues as they relate to DEI in the workplace. This course will provide the basic knowledge needed for more advanced courses such as Inclusive Leadership and Building Inclusive Workplace Cultures.

Economic Analysis for Managers

This course reviews the foundations of modern economics with an emphasis on its applications in business. Course coverage includes a range of both microeconomic and macroeconomic subjects. Topics include demand and supply analysis, consumer theory, theory of the firm, unemployment, inflation, monetary and fiscal policy, economic growth, the causes and consequences of recessions, and issues in global economics.

Introduction To Philosophy

The goals of this course are two-fold: to develop and hone students' analytical skills and to look at a number of the central issues in philosophy. Crucial to doing and understanding philosophy is an ability to present, explain, and evaluate arguments; throughout the course we will refine these abilities. By way of an introduction to a number of core philosophical issues we will take an in-depth look at one of the greatest works of philosophy of all time, Descartes's Meditations on First Philosophy.

Aerospace Fluid Mech

Incompressible and compressible flow theory applied to airplane lifting surfaces and engines. Topics include potential flow theory, the Euler equations, thin airfoil theory, and gas dynamics. A commercial computational fluid dynamics package may be used to visualize the flows.

Studio III

Spaces/places in contextointroduction to design processes. The relationship of site context factors and design program to the formation of landscape spaces. A series of small problems such as: courtyard, plaza, small park, ceremonial space, each with a well defined program. Site visits and analysis, diagramming relationships between various activities, and developing an understanding of design processes.
