Nonprofit Law & Management

This course is designed for those who may be involved in nonprofit organizations at some point in their lives as directors, employees, volunteers, customers, funders, or founders. Students will learn about the opportunities and challenges that nonprofits can face by partnering with an existing ?501(c)(3) and by creating, funding, running, and dissolving an imaginary ?501(c)(3) over the course of the semester. We will discuss the theoretical bases for the nonprofit sector and for tax exemption, formation and dissolution of nonprofit corporations at the state level.

S- Catalan Film Festival

This course serves as an introduction to Catalan cinema. It showcases the best of new fiction, documentary, and experimental films, with the aim of fostering an appreciation and deeper understanding of Catalan culture through the medium of film. The Catalan Film Festival also aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of the past, present, and future achievements of Catalan filmmaking within the university setting. Films are screened specifically for students, and they are accompanied by critical introductions from scholars and filmmakers.

Intro to Operations Management

An introduction to operations management in manufacturing and service industries. Emphasis on learning the basic principles, using MS EXCEL, required to organize and manage service and manufacturing organizations. Topics may include improved facility layout, project management, supply-chain management, Just-in-Time systems, inventory management, scheduling, and work force management. Discussions of real world applications frequently used to demonstrate concepts.
