Problems in play direction. Work chosen and closely supervised by the performance faculty and presented in a production format determined by the student's current needs and abilities and demands on the department's performance facilities. Credit, 1-6.

Special Topics/Dramaturgy

This graduate seminar in dramaturgy each semester goes in depth into a special topic. Topics to include: Multicultural Theater Practice, Performance Theory, Avant-Garde Theater, Production Dramaturgy, Translation, Adaptation, and Dramaturgical Writing. Group Studio

A practical workshop, centered on a collaborative project, in which designers, dramaturgs and directors create a performance from scratch. The objective is to develop a shared vocabulary and common experiences in the basic process of transforming text or idea into performed event. All members of the studio may be asked to adopt the perspective of actor, director, designer, playwright, or critic.

S-Mixing A Musical

A guide to live sound mixing for theatre. We'll cover how to properly mix a show and the influence the mix has on an audience, go over basic equipment, theatre specific mixing techniques, and the different roles covered by the sound team.

S- Fabric Painting

This is a class exploring multiple medias to create beautiful 2D painting on fabric. Fabric painting and treatment has been a traditional decorative efforts from the cradle of the human civilization and is different within various culture and geographic setting. This class would cover popular fabric painting and distressing crafts in Western theatre and film industry. After the class, students should be able to create convincing portfolio pieces through fabric silk dye, batik, fabric paint, and screen printing.
