The 9-week Positivity and Relaxation Training (PART) program helps participants develop a self-care routine to help manage stress, improve their outlook and enhance their quality of life.

International Law

Examination of the basic legal rules regulating relations among states and between states and other entities. Analysis of theories of international law and of how and to what extent legal rules and legal reasoning affect the policies of governments.

S-Preparing for Study Abroad

Seminar exploring cultural, linguistic, and social aspects of life as an exchange student in Japan. Topics include history of local and national cultural contact with Japan, the Japanese education system, and situating study abroad in larger context (undergraduate & beyond). Emphasis on developing independent research skills and an individual study abroad plan.

16mm Filmmaking and Technology

This course is an introductory workshop in 16mm single-camera filmmaking, linear editing, and film projection intended for students interested in pursuing further creative production and coursework in film, especially toward completion of the Major or Certificate in Film Studies. Because the skills utilized in analog filmmaking can build upon but are in part discrete from those learned in video production, most students will have prior experience with photography or videography, though this is not strictly required.

Structural Bio Journal Club

The goal of this journal club is to provide participants with the opportunity to critically analyze recent, peer-reviewed and pre-print research papers from the rapidly evolving field of structural biology. Students choose papers with an emphasis on structural biology, including X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-EM, HDX MS, etc. Students will also take turns presenting a summary of relevant background information and leading the discussion of a paper that aligns with their research interests.

Biophysics Journal Club

The goal of this journal club is to provide participants with the opportunity to critically analyze recent, peer-reviewed and pre-print research papers from the molecular life sciences, in discussion with their peers. Students will also take turns presenting a summary of relevant background information and leading the discussion of a paper that aligns with their research interests.

Environ Science

This course provides an introduction to environmental science. Students will gain an understanding of the interactions between the biotic, which is inclusive of people, and the physical components of the Earth system. Through lecture, analysis of scientific literature, and lab we address topics such as biodiversity, agriculture, water resources, atmospheric pollution and climate change, and renewable and non-renewable energy, linking central scientific concepts to local, regional, and global case studies.
