French food and agricultural products are celebrated worldwide for their quality, diversity, and rich cultural history. French chefs have long set the standard for the high-end restaurant world; it was French winemakers, a century ago, who first gave a legal status to the concept of terroir; while French farmers are perhaps best known for their skill in staging effective displays of political force. France is also an agricultural powerhouse, a leading global exporter of agricultural goods and a key player in determining European agricultural policy.

Grad Digital Design

Digital media is a key creative tool for artists and designers. Lectures, readings, and tutorials introduce students to contemporary design practice, including: digital typography, page design and layout, vector-based graphics, and design for the screen. Design projects range from purely textual, single and multi-page document design, to problems that require the successful integration of typography, image, and basic interaction. Students explore how context and form affect meaning and message through the creation of conceptual solutions.

Grad Photography I

This beginning course will focus on analog capture, film development and printing. As you develop the skills needed to create images you will apply them to concepts and projects. In addition to slide lectures and reviews of projects we will also look at a range of historical and contemporary international artists, whose diverse practices conceptually and theoretically situate assigned projects.

Collagraphs Printmaking

The word Collagraph is made up of a union of the words ?collage? and ?graphic??a collagraph plate is made the same way a collage is made, and it?s then printed as an Intaglio or Relief print. A collagraph print is made from a collage of various materials glued together on board, plexiglass, and wooden boards, having a tactile. Students will explore different ways to create plates using mediums, fabrics, sand, and found objects, using essential relief, intaglio, and embossing printing techniques on an etching press, creating dimensional prints.

Veterinary Oncology Lab

This laboratory course is an introduction to both canine mammary cancer and mammalian cell culture techniques in the context of conducting basic research with primary canine tumors and an established canine mammary cell line. Topics include etiology of canine mammary cancers, molecular characterization of canine mammary tumors, development of patient-derived xenografts, and canine mammary cancer as a model for human breast cancer.
