ST-Swahili Senior Research IV

Advanced Swahili Senior Research IV is for students working on an advanced Swahili research project or thesis. Students develop skills in describing and narrating in detail, expressing opinions, giving reasons for opinions, and cross-cultural communication. Students develop vocabulary necessary to discuss and write about their chosen topic in Swahili.

ST-Swahili Senior Research III

Advanced Swahili Senior Research III is for students working on an advanced Swahili research project or thesis. ST- Topics in Advanced Urdu IV

Topics in Advanced Urdu IV focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. Students studying Urdu develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Pakistan or India and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

ST-Turkish Speakers I

Mentored Turkish for Turkish Speakers I is designed for students who already have advanced proficiency in spoken Turkish, but want to learn to read and write in the language. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies.

ST-Egyptian Arabic VII

Egyptian Arabic VII is the third part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Egyptian Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Egyptian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Egyptian Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Egypt and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

ST- Romanian VI

Romanian VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Romanian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Romanian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Romania or the Republic of Moldova and to support course work in European Studies.
