P- Rsrch: Electricity & Rivers

Assist and conduct documentary, web research, participant-observation, and interview research on development on New England energy policy and markets, dam relicensing, and community/regional economic development; and history, politics, impacts of projects and communities around Romaine River Hydropower Complex, Quebec. Additionally, help organize and lead conference on electricity and rivers. Coordinate with other undergraduates and faculty in interdisciplinary team.

S-Cartography & Geovisualizatn

Studentswill understand and implement principles of good design in cartography along with understanding the human vision and how it influences perception and cognition. The course will also cover the scope of contemporary thematic cartography and web mapping. Students will gain hands-on experience in designing and improving web-based maps. In this course, students will: - Learn the fundamentals of cartography and map design - Become familiar with using open source tools to improve the visual quality of web-based and other maps - Create maps through independent design and exploration

Professional Development in Psychology is an exciting course designed to expose you to diverse career opportunities and prepare you for life after graduation. In this course you will reflect on and further develop the skills you gained in general education courses and apply them to your major by exploring real-world opportunities relevant to psychology. You will identify your overall skill set, engage in several networking events with guest speakers, and create a professional portfolio.

Global Environment Change

The natural relationships between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere; human impact on the natural environment. Global environmental issues: global warming, sea-level rise, and ozone depletion in the stratosphere. Global changes of the past also studied to give perspective to forecasted changes. ST- Art & Style/PhysProcGeoSci

This course will help you understand mathematics and physics, those courses you took but now don't remember, so that you can fulfill your dreams of being a scientist. We will learn the art and style of quantitative analysis using geologic processes as examples. We will re-learn calculus, probability and statistics, and linear algebra. We will learn the Python computing language to write computer code to apply, use, and learn these concepts. After this course, you should feel more comfortable understanding math and physics and their applications to Geosciences.

Introductory Biology Lab

This course is a 2 credit laboratory experience that allows students to apply the biological concepts covered in Biology 151 and 152 Introductory Biology in laboratory and field settings. Students will develop and practice scientific research skills while exploring the areas of genetics, cell and molecular biology, evolution, and ecology. To enroll, students must be co-enrolled in Biology 152 (Introductory Biology II) or have completed the 2 semester Introductory Biology Sequence (Biology 151 and 152).
