S- Topics in Neuroeconomics

The purpose of this seminar course is to understand how our brain allows learning from past experience to guide future choices and actions, which is the core of today's Neuroeconomics research topic. We will review the current literature in the cognitive neuroscience of human learning and decision making with particular focus on the basic elements influencing these behaviors such as, motivation, reward processing and error-based learning. We will further discuss how these basic elements interact with the external environment (e.g.

S- Brain and Body Clocks

Time is nature's way of making sure everything doesn't happen at once, or so the saying goes. Why can you wake up at about the same time without an alarm clock? Why do you feel so bad when you are jet-lagged? This seminar will use current research literature to explore the mechanisms by which our brains (and bodies) tell time, and what happens when they don' work correctly, from weight gain, to altered immune responses, to cognitive and behavioral problems.

ST-History,GenderRel,Affection

This course aims to promote a transdisciplinary debate, within the analytical perspectives of gender studies, feminist epistemology, and historical narratives, about the notions of " love(s)", "pleasures", and " violences" constructed in Western literature considered " best-seller" for women, and usually written by women, in order to understand how the ways of living and feeling among people were constructed from this so-called "new" literature: the chick-lit.

ST- City/ Lusophone Lit & Film

Cinema, literature and the city are historically interrelated, and urban spaces have proved to be a rich and diverse imagetic setting and subject. Cities have been explored in a myriad of manifestations: as a character, as a fetish, as a historical document, as a cultural monument of religiosity, as a symbol of liberalism, sexuality, progress, and decay.

ST-Polymer Processing&Rheology

Flow of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, different flow equations, dependence of viscosity on temperature and shear rate. Simple shear flow with examples of Poiseuille / pressure flow and Couette / drag flow geometries. Measurements of rheological parameters using capillary, rotating cylinder parallel plate and cone-plate rheometers. Viscoelasticity and exposure to mechanical and molecular models. Simple model flows and their application for analyzing polymer processing, with a few practical examples. Classification of Polymer Processing operations.

Cmptv Politics Tutl

This course is a reading-intensive course that provides an introduction to multiple literatures within the field of comparative politics: collective action and social movements; political economy; parties and elections; political identity (including ethnicity, nationalism, and culture); democratization and regime change; collective violence; and comparative political behavior. Students will be expected to prepare an annotated bibliography for 2 or 3 non-overlapping readings each week, allowing us to cover a wide range of readings and create a shared resource for exam preparation.

P- PoliSci Internships

An internship will help you gain invaluable knowledge and skills that can serve as a stepping-stone to your career. You can find an internship locally, in a major city, or abroad. Seeking an internship requires a great deal of initiative on your part - you must both find a site where you can work and connect with a faculty member who will support you in your academic efforts related to that work.
