Lighting Design Studio

This course addresses lighting design theory, conceptualization, and solution of related technical problems. Advanced lighting lab and paper projects. Advanced lighting assignments on department productions. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Theatr majors. Prerequisites: THEATER 361, consent of instructor. May be repeated for credit.

CHM II LAB: ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Lab section for Organic Chemistry. An introduction to the theory and practice of organic chemistry. The course focuses on structure, nomenclature, physical and chemical properties of organic compounds and infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for structural analysis. Reactions of carbonyl compounds and alkenes are studied in depth. Prerequisite: CHM 111/111L, CHM 114/114L or CHM 118 (with required lab.) Corequisite: CHM 222. Enrollment limited to 16 per lab section. Multiple sections are offered at different times, as detailed in the Schedule of Classes.

Indigenous Peoples and Places

What is indigenous space? What is a traditional cultural place? What constitutes "Indian Country" today? What is the relationship between land base and sovereignty? How has space been contested? How have Natives and settler-colonists conceived land and territory over time? This course is designed to introduce students to geographies of Native America including, culture areas, the mapping of languages and polities, the history of cartography and will encourage students to think critically about colonization/decolonization.
