ST-Written Persian I

Written Persian I is designed for students who have advanced fluency in spoken Persian but need to learn to read and write. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Persian grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read standard Persian and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues, paragraphs, and letters in written Persian.

ST-Serbo-Croatian V

Serbo-Croatian V (Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian V) is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, or Montenegro and to support course work in European Studies or Balkan Studies.

ST-Egyptian Arabic I

Egyptian Arabic I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Egyptian Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Egyptian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Egyptian Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Egypt and to support course work in Middle Eastern, African and International Studies.

Students studying Levantine Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria or the West Bank and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

S-I Moroccan Arabic I

Moroccan Arabic I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Moroccan Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Moroccan Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Moroccan Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Morocco and to support course work in Middle Eastern, African and International Studies.

Amharic I

The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.

Zulu III

Zulu III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Zulu. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Zulu develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in South Africa and to support course work in African Studies.

Modern Greek V

Modern Greek V is the first part of a four-part intermediate-level course sequence in Modern Greek. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Greek develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Greece and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Hindi VII

Hindi VII is the third part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Hindi. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Hindi develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in India and to support course work in South Asian Studies.
