Introductory Biology Lab

This course is a 2 credit laboratory experience that allows students to apply the biological concepts covered in Biology 151 and 152 Introductory Biology in laboratory and field settings. Students will develop and practice scientific research skills while exploring the areas of genetics, cell and molecular biology, evolution, and ecology. To enroll, students must be co-enrolled in Biology 152 (Introductory Biology II) or have completed the 2 semester Introductory Biology Sequence (Biology 151 and 152).

Cost Acctg

Focus on the use of cost accounting information to help planning and control activities in a business enterprise. Topics include methods for determining the costs of products and services (includes job order, process, standard and activity based cost systems), for assessing product and project profitability, and for budgeting and monitoring costs and profits. Emphasis on usefulness and limitations of cost accounting information.

General Chemistry: Foundations

This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts of chemistry, including the electronic structure of atoms and molecules, chemical bonding, molecular shape, functional groups, stoichiometry, chemical reactivity and equilibrium. The laboratory emphasizes basic skills, quantitative chemical measurements, and principles discussed in lectures.

Fiction Writing I

A first course in writing fiction. Emphasis will be on experimentation as well as on developing skill and craft. Workshop (discussion) format.

Admission with consent of the instructor. Limited to 15 students. Fall semester: Writer-in-Residence Lee and Visiting Writer Myint. Spring semester: Visiting Instructor Susan Stinson.
