Intrdscplnry Directns in Psych

The Psychology IE course will focus on the content areas of Psychology as they relate to real-world problems. We will consider areas of Psychology where our majors may be employed after graduation. The course will be organized into a series of six units. Each unit will be introduced and discussed in a lecture and carried over into recitation sections. Course content will represent each of the five areas of the department in various themes throughout the course; some themes will cross disciplinary boundaries contained within the department.

From filial imprinting to social isolation, this course will integrate molecular/cellular biology with systems neuroscience to explore canonical critical periods and their influence on brain development. Particular emphasis will be placed on the regulation of experience dependent changes in neural circuits as a basis for learning.

Plant Biotech & Tissue Culture

Biotechnology has experienced tremendous growth in last two decades and has transformed the areas of crop genetic engineering for food, fibers, biofuels and medicine. Plant tissue culture techniques facilitated the introduction of genes into plants for making crops resistant to herbicides, insects, production of edible vaccines, biofuels and healthy foods. Therefore, knowledge of plant tissue culture and transgene technology is highly desirable for preparing and training next generation scientists.
