Hnr Indstudy In ECE

This is a stand-alone independent study designed by the student and faculty sponsor that involves frequent interaction between instructor and student. Qualitative and quantitative enrichment must be evident on the proposed contract before consent is given to undertake the study

Honors Research

E&C ENG 499Y is Part 1 of the senior honors thesis or project in ECE, to be followed in the spring by Part 2 (E&C ENG 499T for thesis or ECE 499P for project). Individual student research is directly contracted with the faculty chairs who supervise the work. In addition, all 499Y students participate in a common thesis/project seminar that addresses research-related communication and other aspects of the research process in a seminar/workshop format. Seminar topics are deliberately selected and timed to support development of the 499T/P thesis/project proposals.

Microwave Engineering II

Analysis and design of passive microwave devices, including resonators, filters, and ferrite devices, in various transmission-line media. Noise and noise effects in detectors, mixers, and modulators. Introduction to FET amplifier design. Prerequisite: E&C-ENG 584.

Digital Signal Proc

With lab. IIR and FIR digital filter design. Applications of DFT and FFT. Transform domain analysis of discrete-time (DT) linear time-invariant systems: minimum phase, allpass, linear phase systems. Im-plementation of DT systems. Finite wordlength effects. Multirate digital signal processing. Power spectrum estimation. Lab includes projects using digital signal processors. Prerequisite: E&C-ENG 563.

Honors Thesis

E&C ENG 499T is Part 2 of the senior honors thesis in ECE, preceded in the fall by Part 1 (E&C ENG 499Y). Individual student research is directly contracted with the faculty chairs who supervise the work. In addition, all 499T and 499P students participate in a common thesis/project seminar that supports development of the 499T thesis research and document.

Honors Thesis expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional research manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all theses:

Honors Project

E&C ENG 499P is Part 2 of the senior honors project in ECE, preceded in the fall by Part 1 (E&C ENG 499Y). Individual student research is directly contracted with the faculty chairs who supervise the work. In addition, all 499T and 499P students participate in a common thesis/project seminar that supports development of the 499P project work and documentation.
