Is there a body of work that constitutes "Asian American feminism(s)" and what are its distinctive contributions to the field of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies?

ST-TechnicalProjectManagement

This case-based course exposes students to the theory and practice of managing engineering and technical projects. Topics covered include planning, scheduling and controlling projects such new product development, technology deployment, and construction efforts with a particular focus on the role of engineering informatics. The primary goal of this course is to improve students? ability to manage engineering and technical projects at all stages and to effectively use the tools and methodologies of project management.

ST-Research Methods/Engineers

This course is designed to familiarize graduate students with necessary skills to conduct engineering research, including its design, methods, and analyses. It will introduce and cover the following topics: identifying and selecting research questions, objectives, and hypotheses; conducting a literature review; selecting the appropriate research methods; analyzing the results using statistics in the R statistical environment; and writing a research plan or report. Students will also learn about the ethics of conducting engineering research.

ST-Practical Med Device Design

The course will provide an introduction to the systematic design, fabrication, testing and documentation process that is required for the commercial development of medical devices, suitable for eventual regulatory approval. The course will dissect how manufacturing, mechanical design and clinical considerations contribute to medical device development. We will focus on devices used for image guided cancer therapy, where 2 devices will be examined over course of the semester.

ST- Manufacturing Logistics

Quantitative techniques for manufacturing logistics; emphasis on capacity planning and utilization, managing inventories, lean systems, sourcing and supply chain management, demand planning, and order point inventory control methods. Introduction to Enterprise Resource Planning, transportation, and warehousing.

S- Health, Race, Medicine

In recent years, we have seen a proliferation of new medical and reproductive technologies. Who uses these technologies? Who do they impact and how? Who benefits from them? Which women? This course explores the recent controversies around personalized medicine, designer babies, human reproductive cloning situated in the long history of the struggles around equitable access to health. In particular, it explores the "genomic" revolution and its implications for women and how race and class are central to any analysis on contemporary genetics and health technologies.

Landscape&WatershedBiogeochem

Landscapes and their geology influence atmospheric and hydrologic functions, which govern the sources and transport of elements. Watershed exports are cumulative integrators of soils, bedrocks, and vegetation elemental cycling, controlling the rate of elemental emissions to the Earth?s atmosphere and to the oceans. In this course, we will evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively elemental biogeochemistry in watersheds and across landscapes. Moreover, we will examine how human populations affect these scale processes.

ST-The Politician & Journalist

The relationships among reporters, publishers, and politicians, and how each uses the media. Using historical biographies and other texts, the class will examine past strategies by politicians and media figures. Topics include campaign strategies, Washington politics, day-to-day effectiveness in office, making arguments through the media, and how those not elected use the media.
