ST-Levantine Arabic VII

Levantine Arabic VII is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator.

Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers II is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and to support course work in Asian Studies.

ST- Modern Irish IV

Modern Irish IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Irish (also known as Irish Gaelic). The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Irish develop speaking and listening skills useful for study abroad in Ireland and to support course work in Celtic Studies.

ST-Vietnamese/HeritageSpeakrs1

Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers I is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and to support course work in Asian Studies. This course is an entry-level course for students who already have some basic speaking skills in Vietnamese.

ST- Dutch IV

Dutch IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Dutch. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Dutch develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Netherlands and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Burmese IV

Burmese IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Burmese. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar (Burma) and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

ST- High Intermediate ASL A

Students will learn to communicate appropriately in a wider range of interpersonal situations while increasing fluency and comprehension. Students will practice language functions and their key grammatical features. Students will expand vocabulary and range of topics. Students will increase narrative and conversational fluency. Students will compare aspects of ASL and English through translation exercises.

ST- Intermediate ASL IIIA

Students will learn to communicate appropriately in a wider range of interpersonal situations while increasing fluency and comprehension. Students will practice language functions and their key grammatical features. Students will expand vocabulary and range of topics. Students will increase narrative and conversational fluency. Students will compare aspects of ASL and English through translation exercises.

ST- Bangla/Bengali V

Bangla/Bengali V is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Bangla/Bengali I-IV or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bangla/Bengali develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bangladesh and to support course work in South Asian Studies.
