Swahili V is an intermediate-level course in Swahili (Kiswahili) for students who have completed Swahili I-IV or the equivalent. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Swahili develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in East Africa (especially Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and to support course work in African studies.

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Speakers I is for advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to learn to read and write in Hindi. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Hindi grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read in Hindi and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues and paragraphs in Hindi.

Levantine Arabic II is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Levantine Arabic I or the equivalent.
