S-Law, Power and Conscience

We live in perilous times-times in which the ruthless exercise of power often overrides individual conscience, warps the rule of law, and undercuts the values that sustain a humane society. But this is not a new phenomenon. Seminar explores what we can learn about contemporary controversies by examining literature and film about major conflicts of law, power and conscience from 16th Century England to 20th Century America.

Intro to Caribbean Dance St.

How does Caribbean dance mobilize identity,;history, and community? This course will;introduce students to the study of Caribbean;dance forms through regular reading, writing,;viewing, and dance practice, as well as guest;artist visits. We will explore a diversity of;Caribbean dance practices from Cuba, Haiti,;Jamaica, Trinidad, and Puerto Rico, paying;particular attention to race, gender and;sexuality in our analyses.

World Politics

Introduction to the principles and practices of international relations in the political, military, economic, and environmental realms. Study of the development of the contemporary system to explore the effects of the structure of the international system, the institutions through which states conduct their relations, and domestic characteristics on the relations among states. P-SurvivingSTEM:Skills/Succeed

This course offers a course-based undergraduate experience (CURE) for students who are enrolled in STEM majors. Students will develop skills in STEM research, communication and academics. We will use the general biology topics to focus our efforts as we 1) Sharpen our skills in reading and understanding the relevant popular and scientific literature, 2) learn how to design and carry out an original team-based research project, 3) develop the analytical skills required to analyze our data, and 4) improve our skills in communicating complex scientific concepts to scientists and non-scientists.
