This course provides advanced application of the art and craft of sound design. The tools and processes essential to conceptualizing and implementing aural content and technical delivery of a sound design will be utilized in the department?s main-stage productions, supplemented by class projects.

Those positioned at the intersections of multiple marginalized identities or social positions face significant health disparities. This two-semester Honors Thesis/Project Seminar will explore the use of community-based participatory approaches to health equity research focused on race, gender, socioeconomic status, age, and geographic location. In this course, students will examine the relationship between inequalities in the social determinants of health, cortisol (a stress response hormone in the body), and chronic disease risks (e.g., obesity).

This course covers the neural circuits and biochemical mechanisms underlying the body's response to stress and the impact of stress on mental health. In place of a textbook, assigned readings include peer-reviewed research and review articles, with the primary focus on preclinical studies using animal models.

This seminar provides opportunities for doctoral students to share their completed and in-progress research as a supportive community of emerging scholars. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with faculty on various research projects. Faculty-led discussions will include a variety of topics relevant to higher education, such as publication, job search, tenure and promotion in academia.

This course provides a guided opportunity for graduate students to (a) read, understand, evaluate, synthesize, and discuss music education research, and (b) improve their abilities to write in a manner appropriate for research and scholarly activity.

This course is an interdisciplinary introduction to Sufism, the mystical tradition of the Islamic world. The class focuses on the heartland of the Middle East, namely the eastern Arab lands, Turkey and Iran. No prerequisites are required. (Gen. Ed. I)
