Filipino II

Filipino II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Filipino, the national language of the Philippines, developed from Tagalog and other regional languages. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Filipino develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Philippines and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

ST-Swahili VII

Swahili VII is an intermediate-level course in Swahili (Kiswahili) for students who have completed Swahili I-VI or the equivalent. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Swahili develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in East Africa (especially Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and to support course work in African studies.

ST-Turkish VIII

Turkish VIII is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Turkish I-VII or the equivalent. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies.

Students studying Wolof develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in West Africa, especially Senegal, and to support course work in African Studies.

Afrikaans II

Afrikaans II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Afrikaans. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Afrikaans develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in South Africa and to support course work in African Studies.

Malay II

Malay II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Malay. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Malay develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Malaysia and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.
