Georgian I

Georgian I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Georgian. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Georgian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Georgia and to support course work in Eurasian Studies.

Afrikaans I

Afrikaans I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Afrikaans. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Afrikaans develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in South Africa and to support course work in African Studies.

Levantine Arabic IV

Levantine Arabic IV is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Levantine Arabic III or the equivalent and be ready to work on advanced level speaking and listening skills.

ST-Written Persian II

Written Persian II is designed for students who have advanced fluency in spoken Persian but need to learn to read and write. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. The course continues the review of Persian grammar and structure started in Written Persian I. By the end of the course, students should be able to read standard Persian and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues, paragraphs, and letters in written Persian.

ST-Written Persian I

Written Persian I is designed for students who have advanced fluency in spoken Persian but need to learn to read and write. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Persian grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read standard Persian and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues, paragraphs, and letters in written Persian.

ST-Serbo-Croatian V

Serbo-Croatian V (Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian V) is an intermediate-level course in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian for students who have completed Serbo-Croatian I-IV or the equivalent. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, or Montenegro and to support course work in European Studies or Balkan Studies.
