Introductory Biochemistry Lab

The Introductory Biochemistry course covers fundamental biochemical and molecular biological laboratory techniques, supporting concepts, and data analysis. The aims of this course are 1. to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience with some of the most common experimental methods used in biochemical and molecular biological research and 2. to introduce students to the fundamentals of scientific writing.

Service Industry Operations

The service industry accounts for about 75% of the US employment and almost 60% of all personal consumption. This course will explore the service industries (e.g., transportation, health care, retailing, restaurants, and financial services) with a view toward developing models that allow planners to reduce costs and enhance customer service.

3-D Stu:Throwing

Studio, demonstration. Introduction to potter's wheel. Emphasis on throwing techniques and functional design. Exploration of oxidation glazes and surface decoration. Active participation, attendance required. Prerequisite: ART 131 or 132 for majors; ART 110 or 131 or consent of instructor for non-majors.

ST-Intro/Comp&NetworkSecurity

This course provides an introduction to the principles and practice of computer and network security. A focus on both fundamentals and practical information will be stressed. The three key topics of this course are cryptography, privacy, and network security. Subtopics include ciphers, hashes, key exchange, security services (integrity, availability, confidentiality, etc.), security attacks, vulnerabilities, anonymous communications, and countermeasures.
