ST- CulturalAnthro&Dev/Africa

In this course several broad Africa-based themes will be treated including themes in African Studies, Issues in Education, African Religion and Systems of Thought, Governance, Democracy and Political Conflict, African Literature, Economic Development, Health and Society, and Youth and Popular Culture, Gender and LGBT. The aim of the course is to bring and discuss a cultural anthropology perspective of these issues.

ST-Cantonese/MandarinSpkrs III

Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Cantonese develop speaking and listening skills needed to live and work in a Cantonese-speaking environment.

ST- Amharic III

Amharic III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Amharic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.

ST- Danish IV

Danish IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Danish. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Danish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Denmark and to support course work in European Studies

ST-Burmese II

Burmese II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Burmese. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar (Burma) and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

ST-Tibetan III

Modern Tibetan III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Tibetan. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Tibetan develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Tibet or Tibetan-speaking areas and to support course work in Asian Studies or Buddhist Studies.

ST-Bangla/Bengali II

Bangla/Bengali II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Bangla. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bangla/Bengali develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bangladesh and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

ST-Danish III

Danish III is the thirdpart of a four-part elementary course sequence in Danish. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Danish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Denmark and to support course work in European Studies.
