ST- Amharic IV

Amharic IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Amharic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.

ST- Tibetan IV

Modern Tibetan IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Tibetan. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Tibetan develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Tibet or Tibetan-speaking areas and to support course work in Asian Studies or Buddhist Studies.

ST- Finnish II

Finnish II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Finnish. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Finnish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Finland and to support course work in European Studies and Scandinavian Studies.

Wildlife Reproduction

This course will cover topics in wildlife reproduction and conservation including reproductive cycles in wild animals, reproductive technologies, pharmacological and physical restraint; stress and capture-related death; safety and first aid in the field, and capture methods and transport.

P- Citizen's Police Academy

This practicum course is a collaboration between the University of Massachusetts Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy and the Legal Studies program. The Citizen's Police Academy is a combination of in-class lectures and hands-on experiences through which students learn how police officers are trained and how they do their jobs. Among other things, students will learn about the constitutional limits on police power, how crime scenes are processed and how police deal with active threat situations.
