Pashto I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Pashto. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. Serbo-Croatian V (Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian V) is an intermediate-level course in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian for students who have completed Serbo-Croatian I-IV or the equivalent. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, or Montenegro and to support course work in European Studies or Balkan Studies.

Egyptian Arabic I is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in Egyptian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed the equivalent of one year of elementary Modern Standard Arabic in a course with a speaking component in Modern Standard Arabic or a dialect.
