ST-Egyptian Arabic II

Egyptian Arabic II is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Egyptian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Egyptian Arabic I or the equivalent.

S-I Levantine Arabic III

Levantine Arabic III is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Levantine Arabic II or the equivalent.

S-I Moroccan Arabic I

This course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Moroccan Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed two semesters of Modern Standard Arabic at the 100-level or the equivalent. This course is appropriate for students who have had at least one year of Modern Standard Arabic that included a significant speaking component in either MSA or a dialect.

S-I Iraqi Arabic I

This course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Iraqi Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. The focus is on practical everyday conversation and listening comprehension. Students studying Iraqi Arabic develop skills needed for research and work in Iraq and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

S-I Amharic I

Amharic I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Amharic. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.

S-I Greek V

Greek V is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Greek I-IV or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Greek develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Greece and to support course work in European Studies

ST-Hindi VII

Hindi VII is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Hindi I-VI or the equivalent. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Hindi develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in India and to support course work in South Asian Studies.
