In this class, students will learn how to use the equipment and software in the UMass Library Digital Media Lab and MakerBot Innovation Center to design and develop educational technologies (e.g., videos, 3D models, podcasts, websites, games).
This class looks at health and health care inequality in the United States. The topics focus on the high costs of health care in the United States, and the relatively poor standing of the United States in terms of health outcomes, like infant mortality and life expectancy. We will also look at disparities in health among populations within the United States in relation to race, ethnic and class status.
Early childhood education has been making the news. President Obama and Massachusetts Governor Baker have prominently identified early childhood education as a major goal for their administrations. In this seminar we?ll explore the diverse contexts in which early education takes place as well as how we educate young children aged birth to eight years. We?ll consider why policy makers, politicians, educators and parents view early education as important through an examination of the current status of American?s young children and their families and a review of the relevant research. .
