Honors Project
Honors Project expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional project manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all projects:
- are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters.
- begin with creative inquiry and systematic research.
- include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor.
- culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.

This course is designed to provide a learning community for all students to discuss the value of, importance in, and skills to contribute to positive social change as a student leader in the residence halls at UMass Amherst.
Intermed Microeconomic Theory
Neoclassical microeconomic theory. Consumer behavior, theory of the firm, markets, income distribution, general equilibrium, welfare economics.
Swedish V
Swedish V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Swedish offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Swedish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Sweden and engagement with Swedish-speaking communities, and to support course work in European or Scandinavian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.
