S-Topics/Distrib Quantum Comp

This seminar focuses on distributed quantum computing (DQC). Topics include but are not limited to circuit knitting; architectures and platforms suitable for DQC; fault tolerance, magic state distillation, and quantum error correcting codes for DQC; applications that can be supported with DQC; the effects of topology and limited interconnectivity; the role of entanglement in DQC; cloud-based quantum computation with remote clients; resource management and scheduling.

Honors Thesis

Honors Thesis expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional research manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all theses: - are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters. - begin with creative inquiry and systematic research. - include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor. - culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.

Turkish/Turkish Speakers II

Mentored Turkish for Turkish Speakers II is part of the Mentored Language Program administered by the Five College Center for World Languages. The course is designed for students who already have advanced proficiency in spoken Turkish, but want to learn to read and write in the language. The course continues the review of Turkish grammar and structure started in Turkish for Turkish Speakers I. The course format combines independent study with weekly individual tutorials with a Turkish language mentor.

Independent Study

Specific problem in some aspect of animal or biological sciences/area of research interest. Students prepare a contract with their faculty sponsor. Can be used for master's students to review literature on the topic chosen for their laboratory research but this requires an oral presentation.
