Metals In Biology

Emphasis on structure/function relationships, acquisition and transport of metal ions, electron transport proteins, respiratory proteins, redox proteins and enzymes, metalloenzymes with nonredox roles, medical aspects and spectroscopic methods for structure/function determination. Prerequisites: CHEM 546, BIOCHEM 523.

ST-Escritura Creativa

Curso/Taller/Laboratorio de escritura creativa en espanol. Dirigido a estudiantes con dominio del idioma, pasion literaria, e interes en desarrollar su propia escritura y capacidades creativas. Es un lugar de encuentro donde se practica la constante ejercitacion con las palabras mediante la escritura y la reescritura, entendiendo la creacion como un camino de conocimiento estetico y a la vez de autoconocimiento y autodeterminacion.

S-Performance and Place

This interdisciplinary semina looks at the meanings of place and space -- and how they affect the making of visual art and live performance. We will consider the many relationships between artwork and spectator, with special emphasis on site-specific art and performance.

ST-Political Leadership

This course begins with the premise that leadership is a continuous process, and that leadership can be studied, analyzed, and learned, across the public, as well as private sectors. The first part of the course will delve into various theories of leadership, including the traits, skills, style, and situational approaches. The course will also cover gender differences in leadership studies, and leadership ethics.

ST-Hist/ReproductiveRightsLaw

This course will explore the history of reproductive rights law in the United States, centering the reading of statutes, court decisions, amicus briefs, and law review articles. We will look at the progression of cases and legal reasoning involving a wide variety of reproductive rights issues, including forced sterilization, contraception, abortion, forced pregnancy/c-sections, policing pregnancy (through welfare law, employment policies and criminal law), and reproductive technologies.
