Brain,Mind&Behavior

The brain and its relation to behavior. Elements of the brain and their circuits, the major functions of the brain, how they operate. How neuroscientists study the brain and nervous system. Some major brain diseases and disorders; how they may be treated. Prerequisite: introductory life science course (biology, psychology, biochemistry, etc.) or consent of instructor.

Developmental Psych-Honors

The primary goal of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to developmental psychology and to the scientific study of development. It is intended that this course may serve as a foundation for future courses in Child Psychology. Thus, a broad range of topics will be covered and no one topic will be covered in depth. We will cover the major domains of development ? biological, cognitive, social, and emotional development - from the prenatal period chronologically, covering each age of the child in turn.

S- War Stories

An inquiry into the representation of war in the late 20th century, this course will focus largely on a single conflict, the recent war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will examine a variety of media: photography, theater, poetry, and narrative, as well as testimonials and documentaries. Our discussions will also respond to readings grounded in theory rather than context.

Fund Concpts Of Math

Four to six topics, chosen from fields such as geometry, number theory, and the real numbers, with emphasis on precise def-initions, examples, conjectures, theorems, and proof methods, including induction and contradiction. Prerequisite: MATH 132 or 136 or consent of instructor.

Calculus II

The definite integral, techniques of integration, and applications to physics, chemistry, and engineering. Sequences, series, and power series. Taylor and MacLaurin series. Students expected to have and use a Texas Instruments 89 Titanium Graphing Calculator. Prerequisite: MATH 131 or equivalent. Honors section available. (Gen.Ed. R2)
