History Chinese Lang

Historical survey of the nature and development of Chinese grammatical and phonological structures in three stages: Archaic, Ancient, and Modern. Ability to use source materials in Chinese linguistics developed. Prerequisite: CHINESE 375.

S-Social&Emotional Development

This course will examine core issues in social and emotional development from birth through adolescence. Emphasis will be on the key concepts and theoretical approaches that guide our understanding of emotion processing and its impact on social behavior. Biological and contextual factors that influence trajectories of social and emotional development will be considered across typical and atypical populations of children.

S-Origins of Knowledge

What accounts for the human capacity to perceive and reason about the world? This course will explore the origins and development of human knowledge in the individual child, in relation to two larger time scales: biological evolution and historical/cultural change. The course centers on six case studies of knowledge development.

Beverage Management

Introduction to wines, beers, and spirits. The identification of various types of beverages; their origin, production, and availability. Emphasis on the buying, pricing, control, storage, promotion, and selling of beverages in the hospitality industry. All students must be 21 years of age by the first day of class in order to participate. Proof of age will be required on the first day of class.
