Beyond standard introductory economics courses, this honors course shows the overall logic, structure, and societal implications of neoclassical economic theory. This seminar is a required course for Commonwealth Honors College students where students participate in a topical seminar-style course designed by its instructor. While the subject matter of each section is different, advanced knowledge of the topic is not required. While the subject matter of each section is different, the requirements for each section are the same.

With lab. Introduction to the greenhouse environment and the technology used in production of greenhouse crops. Greenhouse experiments in crop production; exercises on greenhouse structures, heating and cooling, growing media, crop nutrition, photoperiod control and lighting, and crop scheduling; field trip to local greenhouses. Prerequisite: BIOLOGY 103 or equivalent.

Philosophy of Mind investigates the relationship between minds and bodies and the nature of mental phenomena such as thoughts, desires, and qualia (qualitative states such as the experience of seeing red or tasting a peach). We will consider questions such as, what is the relationship between the mind and the brain? How are thoughts, sensations, emotions and consciousness related to and integrated with the activities of our brains and bodies? We will consider some historical responses to these issues, but will focus on contemporary philosophy of the mind.
