Intro to Microbiology Lab

This lab course will cover basic concepts of microbiology with an emphasis on sterile technique, microscopy, isolation and cultivation of microorganism. Identification of pathogenic organisms, antibiotic susceptibility testing, epidemiology and the detection of microbes in food will be covered. This is a 1 credit course for NON-MAJORS. It is geared for students applying to post-graduate health care programs (physician assistant, nurse practitioner, pharmacy, etc.) MICROBIO 310 must be taken previously or concurrently.

Fixed Income

This course explores key issues in fixed income markets. It develops tools for valuing and modeling the risk exposures of fixed income securities and their derivatives.

Public Health Nutrition

A practice-based approach to public health nutrition processes through readings, lectures and active participation; assessing community needs, priorities and goals; implementing nutrition interventions; designing nutrition plans; building coalitions; and preparing grant applications. (Prerequisites: NUTRITN 572 and 577, or consent of instructor)

ST-Brg As&Asn Am Gen

Talks by local and visiting faculty, as well as film screenings and performances, designed to introduce students to the multi-layered connections between Asia and Asian America. Areas that will be considered include: popular culture, youth subcultures, labor, issues of gender and sexuality, and migration and immigrant communities. Discussions emphasize how issues play out at local, national and transnational levels.
