ST-Nutrition Educ Practice

This course exposes the learner to theoretical concepts, practical skills and approaches that are integral to nutrition education. Students will be introduced to learning and communication styles, methods of conducting needs assessments in diverse environments and use of a framework for planning, designing, delivering and evaluating a nutrition education project. Students will conduct regular nutrition education projects in the field outside of class time.

S-Music History Pedagogy

The goal of the course is to equip graduate students of all disciplines to teach music history effectively to a variety of audiences. The course content ranges from the practical to the theoretical; students not only practice teaching, observe others teach, survey textbooks, and design their own syllabi, but also grapple with differing philosophies and methods of teaching. The course culminates with a symposium-style presentation of a creative pedagogical idea.

Paleomagnetism

Lecture, seminar. The magnetic field recorded in rocks. Rock magnetism, description of the earth's magnetic field, lab procedures, polar wandering paths. Application of paleomagnetism to geologic problems. Class participation required. Prerequisite: advanced standing in geology .
