Conducted in English. This seminar is an introduction to the short stories, novel fragments, letters and diaries of Franz Kafka, with special emphasis on the works of his "breakthrough" period.

This will be a series of panel discussions with leaders, activists, policymakers & community members working to improve the quality of life in Springfield. The panels will provide an opportunity to hear practical experiences from people working in different social settings and with different perspectives on social change.

This course explores how various forms of intimacy and human connection are imagined in contemporary writing of the African Diaspora. From parent-child affections, to heterosexual romance, to queer intimacies, to the closeness between friends, "love" is a central theme in literature and a crucial part of how we define humanity.

This course explores how to see the ways that public policy forms a critical part of the context for all of our social life, and how to consider when that policy should be changed. With this critical perspective, it goes on to explore how policy is created and shaped at the local, state, and national levels, and how citizens can impact the policy process to address their concerns and work toward the common good.
