Health Economics&Reimbursement

This course introduces the applictions of economics to health and health care. The topics to be covered include: alloction of health care resources with respect to deman and supply of health care; the roles of hospitals physicians, and health insurance; market imperfections and their role in economics of health care.

ST-Artif Treatment Wetlands

Aquatic plant selection, sizing, and design techniques. Pollution parameters of primary concern include BOD, suspended solids, nutrients, heavy metals, pathogens, and organics. Treatment applications include primary and secondary effluents and sludges; storm water and agricultural runoff; solid and hazardous waste leachates, liquid industrial wastes. Field trips, student projects. Prerequisites: college algebra, introductory chemistry, introductory physics, biology; or consent of instructor.

Seminar in Epistemology

Critical survey of basic issues concerning knowledge. Representative questions include What is knowledge? Can knowledge be purely a priori? Is there a defensible distinction between the analytic and the synthetic? What is the nature of empirical evidence? Is it possible to justify inductive inference? How can we confirm beliefs about unobservable entities?
