Continuation of ACCOUNTG 221. Conceptual framework for accounting for a firm's reported assets. The nature of assets, their recognition, measurement, and disclosure. Motivations of management in choosing among acceptable accounting alternatives in each of these areas examined, along with the economic consequences of such choices. Prerequisite: ACCOUNTG 221.

The mind-body problem breaks down into two questions: how can mere matter think, and how can it be conscious? We will investigate both of these issues through a critical evaluation of the principal contemporary theories of mind.

Development and implementation of rights-based conservation and ?new paradigm? protected area policy by Indigenous peoples, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), state parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and NGOs. Social, economic, and environmental dimensions of tourism. Selected problems in travel and tourism including psychological, sociocultural and economic impacts. Uses the discipline specific knowledge of Tourism Policy and Planning as a platform for integrating skills and knowledge that students have acquired from prior courses and life experiences. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BS-HTMGT majors.

In this course we will talk about what makes a good review for different purposes, how to conduct a rigorous and systematic review, how to analyze and synthesize research studies and how to write a coherent and compelling review. We will read about and talk through some of the ethical considerations involved in the process of writing and publishing a review. Another objective will be to help students prepare for the literature reviews that are part of their comprehensive exams, research proposals and dissertations.

Survey of ancient Greek literature, art, and society. The major Greek states (Mycenae, Sparta, Athens, Macedonia) and their political and cultural development from Neolithic to the Classical and Hellenistic periods, emphasizing Greek influence on Roman and later western civilization. (Gen.Ed. HS)

An introduction to operations management in manufacturing and service industries. Emphasis on learning the basic principles, using MS EXCEL, required to organize and manage service and manufacturing organizations. Topics may include improved facility layout, project management, supply-chain management, Just-in-Time systems, inventory management, scheduling, and work force management. Discussions of real world applications frequently used to demonstrate concepts.

Explores experimental digital video and sound within the context of contemporary art practices in projects involving a sustained inquiry into self-selected themes.
