Irish Writers&Cultural Context

Irish Writers and Cultural Contexts is a lively introduction to the cultural content of a particular literature providing a lens to explore the interdisciplinary inherent in literature, and cross-cultural comparison in literary and artistic expression. Grounded in Irish writers of distinction, we will examine the representation of cultural renaissance, social stratification and memory.

Operating Systems

An in-depth examination of principles of distributed operating systems. Topics include processes and threads, concurrent programming, distributed interprocess communication, distributed process scheduling, shared virtual memory, distributed file systems. MACH. Familiarity with an undergraduate course on operating systems (CMPSCI 377 or equivalent) is helpful.

Intro To Acctg I

Preparation and uses of financial statements of business enterprises; the accounting process of recording, classifying, and interpreting business transactions. Conceptual problems analyzed include accounting for inventories, depreciation, and capital stock.

PROBABILITY & STATISTICS

An introduction to probability and statistical modeling and its application to natural, physical and social science and related disciplines. Data analysis and interpretation, using computer software, are emphasized. Topics include random variables, probability distributions, expectation, estimation, testing, experimental design, quality control, resampling-based inference, and multiple regression. Limited to 25 students. Prerequisite: MTH 111, or MTH 153, or one year of high school calculus, or permission of the instructor.

CIRCUIT THEORY

Analog and digital circuits are the building blocks of computers, medical technologies, and all things electrical. This course introduces both the fundamental principles necessary to understand how circuits work and mathematical tools that have widespread applications in areas throughout engineering and science. Topics include: Kirchhoff's laws, Thevenin and Norton equivalents, superposition, responses of first-order and second-order networks, time-domain and frequency-domain analyses, frequency-selective networks.
