Burmese VI

Burmese VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Burmese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar and engagement with Burmese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Bangla/Bengali VI

Bangla/Bengali VI is an intermediate course in Bangla offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Bangla develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in India and Bangladesh and engagement with Bangla-speaking communities, and to support course work in South Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Amharic VI

Amharic VI is an intermediate course in Amharic offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and engagement with Amharic-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Adv Swahili/Human Rights Study

Advanced Swahili for Human Rights Policy is an advanced Swahili course offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students will develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cross-cultural communication skills related to human rights policies in East Africa, to prepare them for study abroad in East Africa and engagement with Swahili-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Wolof V

Wolof V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Wolof offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Wolof develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Senegal and engagement with Wolof-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Vietnamese V

Vietnamese V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Vietnamese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and engagement with Vietnamese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Urdu V

Urdu V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Urdu offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Urdu develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Pakistan or India and engagement with Urdu-speaking communities, and to support course work in South Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Ukrainian V

Ukrainian V is an intermediate course in Ukrainian offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Ukrainian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ukraine and engagement with Ukrainian-speaking communities, and to support course work in European and Eurasian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Yoruba V

Yoruba V is an intermediate-level course offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Yoruba develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ghana and engagement with Yoruba-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Twi V
