Czech V

Czech V is an intermediate course in Czech offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Czech develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Czech Republic and engagement with Czech-speaking communities, and to support course work in European Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian V

Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian (BCS) offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator.

Haitian Creole V

Haitian Creole V is an intermediate course in Haitian Creole offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Haitian Creole develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Haiti and engagement with Haitian Creole-speaking communities, and to support course work in Caribbean and Francophone Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Cantonese/Mandarin Speakers V

Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers V is an advanced course in spoken Cantonese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Cantonese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Hong Kong and China and engagement with Cantonese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Bulgarian V

Bulgarian V is an intermediate course in Bulgarian offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Bulgarian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bulgaria and engagement with Bulgarian-speaking communities, and to support course work in European Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Burmese V

Bangla/Bengali V is an intermediate course in Bangla offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Bangla develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in India and Bangladesh and engagement with Bangla-speaking communities, and to support course work in South Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Advanced ASL A

Advanced American Sign Language A builds on skills developed in ASL I-IV to enhance students' advanced language skills. In this course, students will develop conversational skills for everyday discussions and informal and formal narratives. Students will enhance their ability to explain increasingly complex ideas to illustrate how things work and why things are the way they are. Students will also analyze ASL stories to boost comprehension and vocabulary.

Amharic V

Amharic V is an intermediate course in Amharic offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study and an evaluation by an outside evaluator, as well as collaborative contribution of course readings and discussion questions. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and engagement with Amharic-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.
