Film Studies: Foundations

This course is designed to serve as the foundation in the fundamentals of film studies for students intending to major in Film Studies. It provides a grounding in the range of primary areas that constitute this discipline, including the art, industry, and cultural institution of cinema; the medium of film in both its material and digital forms; film style and narrative forms and types; genres; key points in film history; and an overview of the vast cultural diversity of this medium of expression. This course is intended for students entering the Film Studies major.
